About Will
Novelist, freelance medical writer, and the builder behind TypoSweep.
Will Pass is the author of The Second-Smartest Dog That Ever Lived, a dark comedy about interspecies friendships and the wild contradictions of domesticated life. It came out in October 2024 and was named among the 2025 Southwest Books of the Year.
His second novel, The Whirlpool of Lebanon, is forthcoming September 15, 2026, from Thiessen Press.
Other things Will makes
- He hosts Who Reads Books Anymore?, a video series in which he asks strangers about their reading lives.
- He runs The Book Jacket Bracket, the world's first book cover tournament.
How he got here
Will earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine and practiced for two years at a dog and cat clinic before turning to writing full time. His day job is freelance medical writing. The rest of his time goes to spending time with his family, writing novels, asking strangers for book recommendations, and, lately, TypoSweep.
Why TypoSweep
Will built TypoSweep because he wanted a careful final-pass tool he'd actually trust on his own manuscripts. Something that catches the typos Word misses, doesn't drown you in stylistic suggestions, and never rewrites a word of your prose without your say-so.
